The Brits were complaining on the imdb message board, yes, exactly because there is a tradition of Bond being British. But I didn't think Brosnan did such a fantastic job, so I'm open to other nationalities, esp. Goran Visnjic's.

don't really see Julian McMahon either. Daniel Craig, now him I could see. liked him in tombraider ^_^ as to the others, *shrug*

I looked up all the ones I didn't know (all of them except for Gruffudd and Visnjic) on imdb, and here's what I think. Gruffudd is majorly hot, but not really smooth enough to play Bond. Bond isn't just hot, he's the king of cool. He swaggers. He struts. He is arrogant in the extreme. Julian McMahon looks like he could pull it off, but I don't think he's hot. O'Lachlan is stupid-looking. Daniel Craig is not really the Bond type in spite of those brilliant blue eyes, although I thought he was great in Sylvia. Henry Cavill is way, way too young, and Ewan Stewart is so not hot enough. And Visnjic isn't British, and I doubt whether he could make an audience believe he's British, and in that case, he couldn't really be Bond; Bond's purpose in life, when he isn't getting laid or throwing himself out of a burning plane, is to serve the good old mother country, so Bond always always always has to be supremely British, and also, it's part of his character in his arrogance and practiced charm. So basically I think either Brosnan should keep doing it, or they should just let it die a peaceful death. After all, we've had about 40 years of Bond; maybe it's time to let go. (Connery and Brosnan were the two James Bonds in my opinion; Roger Moore had the character down pat, but I don't think he looked right for the part. And Dalton and Lazenby were just stand-ins.)

I will miss Brosnan also for his scenes with Judi Dench as M. They worked so well together, and the scene in The World is Not Enough when she sees his real grief for Elektra King (after he shot her because she turned out to be one of the bad guys) is so beautiful. Their game is so practiced that when one of them gets some evidence that the other is actually human, it's wonderful to watch :)

I could never get past how much Brosnan looks like a Ken doll. And since he's Bond Revived, I never really considered him (or any of those who would come after) legit - so I figure, as long as we're going with non-legit Bonds, might as well have fun with Visnjic. *shrug* :) Clearly people feel differently, but I'm sorta psyched for the next one.
